Description

This dataset provides a structured geographic framework of Singapore, based on boundaries defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) Master Plan. As the country’s statutory land use plan, the Master Plan guides Singapore’s development over a 10 to 15-year horizon and is reviewed every five years to reflect evolving planning strategies. This dataset captures how Singapore is spatially organised, offering a consistent foundation for analysing regions, planning areas, and historical subzone divisions.

It includes the latest region and planning area boundaries from the URA Master Plan 2025, alongside subzone boundaries from the 2019 edition, enabling both current-state analysis and historical comparison. These layers define how Singapore is segmented for planning and governance, including indicators such as controlled industrial areas. Together, they provide a critical spatial index for aligning, aggregating, and analysing data across geographies—supporting use cases in market analysis, service delivery, and strategic planning.

Use Cases

Location Planning

Use official geographic boundaries to guide expansion, network planning, and service coverage decisions. Planning areas and regions provide a structured way to evaluate market presence and identify gaps or opportunities.

Market Analysis

Analyse performance, demand, and competition across consistent geographic units. This enables organisations to benchmark regions, compare planning areas, and uncover spatial trends in customer behaviour or economic activity.

Location Data Enrichment

Enhance internal datasets by mapping customers, assets, or transactions to authoritative geographic boundaries. This creates a consistent spatial framework for reporting, analytics, and decision-making.

Audience Segmentation

Segment customers or audiences based on geographic regions or planning areas to enable more targeted marketing, service delivery, and resource allocation.

Demand Forecasting

Forecast demand at a regional or planning area level by aligning historical data with consistent geographic units. This supports more accurate planning for infrastructure, retail, and service delivery.

Risk Analysis

Assess geographic concentration risk by analysing exposure across regions and planning areas. This is particularly relevant for financial services, insurance, and infrastructure planning.
